Urban Air Mobility (UAM) refers to the use of advanced aerial vehicles to transport people and goods within and around cities. The goal is to reduce congestion, shorten travel times, and create a new layer of urban transportation in the air.

However, operating safely in dense urban environments requires extremely reliable and resilient navigation systems.

This is the context where the GAUSSIAN Project wants to contributes. Funded by Horizon Europe, GAUSSIAN is developing an advanced navigation platform that integrates Galileo with GNSS/INS technologies to target improved positioning accuracy, robustness, and security — key elements for enabling safe Urban Air Mobility operations.

Projects like GAUSSIAN show how space technologies are essential to making future aerial mobility possible.
